How to merge Power Point presentations on SharePoint.

In this article, i am going to explain how you can merge different Power Point presentations into one presentation using slide library of SharePoint 2010.

Step 1: Create Slide Library

  • How to create slide library:

To create a Slide Library, you need to have at least Designer permissions.

  1. On the How to merge Power Point presentations on SharePoint.   menu , click Create.
  2. Under Libraries, click Slide Library.

NOTE    Slide Libraries can be created in only certain types of sites, such as a Team site and Document Workspace. If you do not see Slide Library under Libraries, the type of site you are working on does not support Slide Libraries.

  1. On the New page, under Name, type a name for the library. The name appears in any navigation links that you set up.
  2. Under Description, type an optional description.
  3. Click Create.

How to Install PDF iFilter for SharePoint 2010

In this post i am going to explain how you can install PDF iFilter for SharePoint 2010. By defualt in SharePoint 2010 there is no filter installed for indexing PDF files. That’s why none of the PDF documents is indexed, so it is impossible to search them.

So let’s start the process

1. You need to download PDF iFilter 64 bit from Adobe’s website which is free.

How to Add Icons to Document Types in SharePoint

In this post i am going to explain, how you can add icon to unkown document types. If you add a unkown document type to SharePoint library, a netural document icon appears.

The above shown example is for PDF type document. In this example i am explaining about how to add pdf document icon but these steps are same for any document type.

1. Download pdf 16×16 icon

2. Store icon to following path of 14 hive folder

 C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\IMAGES

 

3.  Open the file DOCICON.XML located in the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\XML.

Add following line of code into section ByExtension tag

<Mapping Key=”pdf” Value=”pdf16.gif” />

 

4. Restart IIS with command iireset

Now you when you reload document library or add new pdf file you can see pdf icon associated to type column.

How to change SharePoint authentication from classic mode to claims based authentication

In this post i am going to explain how we can change authentication of web application from classic mode to claims based authentication.

Step 1: Check current authentication of Web application

Open SP 2010 central administration and go to web application management, select web application whose authentication you want to change. Click on authentication providers from bread crumb and check what current authentication type is. In my case it is showing me Windows.
